Hi there!

Can anyone help me out and identify the type of algae this is? My current solution has been to try to scrub it out of the rocks but in some places, it is in the crevices and it makes it very difficult, especially with the amount that exists. Someone had suggested it is purple algae that are dead, and if so, is there anything besides scrubbing that would be of use?

Thanks!

Looks like well-aged live rock to me. A good clean up crew will eat that stuff.
