It’s the first tang I’ve had that I’ve been able to keep successfully. Starting a QT tank and being very religious about QT’ing and avoiding cross contamination have been major game changers in my fish keeping abilities. I’ve had mine since the end of July 2018 and he is the boss of the tank. Picasso trigger, pink face wrasse, and Harlequin Tusk won’t even try with him. He eats like a pig and is super thick. Probably 6 to 6.5” right now.

I'm on week 2 of my first one. Got him around 4" and he is eating everything I put in the tank, Mysis, brine, pellets, and seaweed sheets. He also picks at the diatoms everywhere. He eliminated the green hair algae I had as well.

I didn't do anything special, placed him a yellow tang and hippo tang in quarantine together. Treated with copper for 5 weeks.

So really 7 weeks with me. Been a swell time

240 gallon reef in the works. Need to post update I guess.

You mentioned yours eating diatoms and it reminded me that mine is even eating cyano. My phosphates spiked and I started getting some on my sand and he is constantly picking at it when it shows up.

I never had a problem. I add them late or last to minimize aggression. Of course, I think having a larger tank helps.
