I've had this guy for three years and never saw him do this. What's up?

Mine has done this before when it grabs something to eat, then closes fast to ingest it. Perhaps it grabbed something in the water column.

Could be flow, light change, just cause. They do this from time to time. Just keep an eye on it and don't start fiddling with stuff.
