Hey I've always had the curiosity of what makes an individual successful, what career path have you chosen? How did you get started and where did you start out at?
How long have you been doing it?
So just me being curious what does everyone do for a job / career?

Glorified Guppy Slinger at your service. Started in 1989, when someone sent me home with a tank, and two very large Pacu relatives. After promptly killing them and everything that was inadvertantly sold to me for two months, i got a job at a LFS. Some would say it's neen all downhill from there! No complaints here!

Well ill share, where to begin?
After high school i work at a factory for 4yrs as a light duty maint tech
I went to tech school to become a electrician 5 yrs ago but couldnt find a job. Swapped from direct tv to dish, talked to the installer come to find out he was the owner of contractor company. He offer me a job and since i have worked for two other dish contractors. Tried working for a cable company and didnt like it and found a local dish company hiring. Not long after getting hired in i was promoted to field service manager for the company i now currently work for.

I am trying to start my own business as truck driving carrying cars from dealerships across the US. In hopes that one day to have my own fleet of trucks. Its not easy trying to start a new business at this time with banks and econmony the way it is.

I have never really found anything that i enjoy doing (the dish job pays the bills as i am very experience) but i am still very young(26yrs old) and hope to find something that i wake up smiling each morning doing. But right now im glad i got a job that pays the bills and able to take care of my daughter and be a part of this addicting hobby!

Martial arts since 13. Took over school at 20. Did personal training from then on.. Opened another school at 29ish. Doing well and looking to open more (good help is hard to find but might have some good people now!)..

also did paintball fields too!

Unemployed for 2 months now... I started fabricating with metal, wood acrylic and made my way to the top over 20 years... Now I'm losing it all to the crappy economy.... :sad: where I go from here I have no idea... I'm open for any thing and have applied at over 150 places including some automotive shops as a custom painter... I have painted in the past and did some tattoos... Might give the tattoo thing a shot again of nothing gives... Christmas is coming and my kids are gonna be really disappointed....:(

Coastal Engineer. Specialize in obtaining state and federal permits for docks, marinas, shoreline stabilization (seawalls, riprap, etc.), dredging, beach dune restoration, etc. Our company got away from design, but I hope to get back into it.

Almost 10 years as a federal law enforcement officer. It sounded like a fun job when my contract was up at my last job working at a research and engineering firm that specialized in hazardous and nuclear waste disposal. Funny where I ended up, since I went to school to be a aerospace enginner :squigglemouth:

I build, inspect, and maintain water tanks! Imagine that....My father got into selling silos for grain storage back in the late 70's, which over the years turned in to water storage. So now it's my brother and I and crew of about 20. We build water tanks all over the southeast. We cover 5 states and currently have about 500 in service. They are one of a kind as well. They are glass fused to steel sheets that are bolted together along with essentially an industrial rubber. Here is couple of videos we made.

Sr. Systems Administrator...thats my title as least. I'm the team lead/engineer for a team of about 10 people. I manage a web farm hosting around 30 applications, the load balancers, web application firewalls, and servers in the farm. Also the SME on VMware for the corporate side of the house. My team as a whole manages around 400-500 servers.

Starting out, I got a job as desktop guy for a local company, in which the network admin left after a few months. Everything was handed to me and I worked night and day studying, reading, researching until I learned enough to manage things. Then, I started expanding my knowledge with IT certifications with reading and studying at night. As of today, I have quite a few certs including: VCP3, VCP4, CCNA, MCSA, MCTS, MCDST, RCAS-AD, CSSA, A+, Net+, Sec+

As cheesy as it sounds, because of my career success and how I got where I am, I'm a firm believer in setting a goals, working your butt off, and putting the time in towards being successful.

Nice! Thought I was going to be the only one in Law Enforcement!LOL!
Been working as a Sheriff's Deputy since out of high school('99, yep, I know, just a kid). This, Marines, or Football was on the table. Since I ain't good at school work, Foot ball was left out. Sheriff Dept. was a quick step, so I took it. To much time in now to leave (will be able to retire at 43 :wink: and start a new job).
