Can we count freshwater fish? If just salt then id say my Peacock Mantis is about as rare as I have in saltwater.

Yeah.....I have had it about 3 weeks and it is just now allowing me to see it without hiding behind a couch so he can't see me. Based on the research I have done, that is why they are rarely seen in the hobby and command a higher price. They are extremely difficult to catch without illegal methods (such as cyanide).

My sand gobies are so common around my way that you can't go out a foot from the shoreline without them scurrying out of your way.
However, you'll probably never see them in the hobby, so I guess they're very rare in that respect :)
