Yes, same stuff, but cheaper ;)So this one should be good as well? Wally world didn't have enough clorox
why not pure ammonia ? perfect to start a new cycle otherwise you will have to soak change soak for quite a while i would thinkYes, that looks good to me, you want regular household bleach without any extra perfumes and not the stuff labeled as "splash free" or similar.
Good luck!
The bleach is a strong oxidizer, and and will sanitize the tank as well as removing all the organics. Yes, ammonia would also sanitizer the tank, but you'd have to have a much greater concentration than what you'd want to start a cycle. Likewise, a strong acid like muriatic acid suggested above would also sanitize the tank, but in my experience that stuff is no joke, and PPE must be used. The fumes can be harmful, and the acid literally is dissolving away your rock. If you're not careful you can lose a significant portion of your rock. So my go to for sanitizing rock would be bleach.why not pure ammonia ? perfect to start a new cycle otherwise you will have to soak change soak for quite a while i would think
After the bleaching, rinse the rocks and let them dry thoroughly, ideally in the sunlight. When dry, bleach is neutralized, it's also degraded by sunlight. So these rocks were originally in my last tank and were purple (the carib sea arch rocks)
I can see they are not purple anymore which is fine as they are bone white, but I want to make sure that should still make them fine to use? I know eventually they will be covered in algae anyways so I don't care about the white rocks, but making sure after testing that all chlorine is gone these rocks are safe to use
Thanks for all of your detailed responses!
