I have a small flame angel in a 50 gallon aquarium and can say it has only minimally damaged my corals; sometimes it does nip occasionally but it depends on the species

:) He had some super rare ones we never see anymore, from regions like Ascension Island. Also check out Yuma Yasuda, Shimokobe and Ryohei Genda (Liopropoma) on Reef Builders.

Mr. Fukuchi’s Debelius Angel has been in his care for over 10 years.

Can you post a photo of your tank? Dwarf angels love lots of rock work and swim-through caves.
That’s good to hear since Ive been wanting a flame angel but not got one yet because I didn’t know it I had too much wierd rock shapes in my tank
But now I think it would like my tank (53G)

pics from when I first set it up

I have an African flame back dwarf angel and a lamarks angel. Both leave sps alone and don't bother the handful of lps I have either. They did however destroy an amazing 6-8 mouth elegance coral though and I had to move a frogspawn to a different tank.

I'm very fond of my bicolor angel. Its always looking through the live rock, picking out worms and pods. Very striking blue and yellow, pictures dont really do the fish justice.

It doesnt seem bother coral, excepting occaisional nibble at some acro when its polyps are extended. Not frequent enough to really matter.

I started it in a 25 g cube (temporarily) with a pair of oscellaris clowns before i recently got a Reefer250. Now I've added a six line wrasse and no issues between any of the fish.

Unless you have a protein skimmer in that black structure, your tank may have low O2 at night. I would somehow get O2 to it, especially at night. An air pump or protein skimmer will solve this problem for you.

It depends on your preferences and tank size. Some good options are the Coral Beauty Dwarf Angelfish, the Flame Angelfish, and the Lemonpeel Angelfish. Just make sure you can provide the right environment for your chosen fish to thrive.

Long time Flame Angel keepers. Do they get big and / or aggressive?
They don’t seem to get huge unless fed a lot (8+ times a day). But they can become aggressive.

The Flame Angels I've kept have always stayed small and never showed any aggression, so a definite favorite of mine! I've always paired my Flames with Coral Beautys and the CBs always tended to be the 'alpha' between the two.

Any recommendations on Dwarf Angelfish species?

Looking to get one, they’re pretty much all labelled/known as semi aggressive or words to that effect. Just wondering what everybody’s experiences have been with Dwarf Angelfish with aggression and not being reef safe etc... and which species would you recommend.

If i was to get one it would be housed with a Peacock Wrasse and 2 Ocellaris Clowns in a 40 gallon tank.

Thanks!

Flame Angel or a Bicolor Angel
