Hi everyone,

I’m planning on upgrading my Fluval flex 123l and just can’t decide on a Red Sea reefer G2 250, Neptunian Cube m pro 90 or a Nyos Opus 300. I’d have loved to go bigger but don’t have the space.

I’d love to know your thoughts on these tanks.

Thank you
Jo

Have you read about all the problems with Red Sea seams coming apart ? I wouldn't chance it myself . We went with Innovative Marine
Yes but I thought that was the old style Red Sea that had the problems? I think they have upgraded the silicone used in the newest ones. I’ll check out innovative marine as I haven’t seen them. Thank you

I have been nothing but pleased with a red sea reef for 200 as my first tank. Bought all red sea components, and it’s really streamlined through the app.

Red Sea G2’s have a reinforced front seam on them to try and help mitigate the seam issues they’ve had in the past. I’ve seen both of these in person and the front seem on the G2 is noticeably thicker than the G1

I have a g2 300 going on 2 years. I just broke down a g1 170 because of a failing seam. My newest tank I went with water box. I will not buy another readsea tank.

EDIT: part of the reason I won't buy RS again is the way they treated people on they're FB page whenever anyone would post about a seam failure. IMO they should have at least responded instead of deleting posts and banning people. This is information I've read not experienced but I've read enough reports of it happening I believe them.

Thats not very professional for a company their size. Thanks for the info.

If youre looking at tanks check out glass cages and cade as well. I have taken red sea off my list as well...too many seam threads and poor customer service threads on this site.

I have a Nyos Opus 300 pro line. Pleased with it so far. Nice external overflow

Opus have one feature that matters to me. No overflow tower in the tank to mess with my scape and flow desires. Just the tiny box at the top and plumbing on the back of the tank. On a LPS tank it’s helpful but on a SPS tank it is a major advantage.

I’d be curious to hear if that matters to other reefers as much.
