I'm upgrading the return on my Evo 13.5, just after some opinions as to which pump would be better?
Sicce Syncra 1.0 or Eheim CompactON 1000

Either would be fine, I have owned both in different sizes though and both are great pump designs.

I was hoping to find this out as well. I have tried the sicce 1.0 and it’s louder IMO than stock. I run the 0.5 sicce now and is almost just as loud as the 1.0. I wanna try the compactON 1000 and may soon. I’ll let you know if I do.

I have been running a Sicce Syncra 1.0 in my nano for 6 months Never an issue. Only thing I will say is throttleing it down Is a bit difficult but once you get used to how it works it is fine, but it did confuse me for a while

The pumps are great but was too much flow for what I was trying to achieve. Sicce are great pumps just was looking to lower noise since it’s in my bedroom.

That's weird, I had the sicce in my 13.5, and it was silent. The only time it would get noisy is if the pump's plastic was touching the glass.

I’ve had the sicce 0.5 for about 12 months and had no problems. Mine runs silent unless it touches the glass or false wall.

Just curious but do you have the pump intake facing chamber 2 or away? Mine is pointed towards chamber 2. Thanks!!

Same I have the power cable at the glass. It’s a tight fit but aslong as you can keep it off the glass or plastic it will run silent. Even the cables can cause vibration if that’s touching the glass closer to the pump.

Which is yours the 1.0 or the 0.5
I have the 0.5. I did have the 1.0 but was too much flow for my set up. I also have 2 1/4 RFG on the return. I wanted the 0.5 for good turnover on my filtration without beating everything up 24/7 and adding a powerhead if I need it. Most the stuff Im going to add is moderate flow/light.

I also have the 0.5 so will be the same size probably just the way the picture is taken. I only run the intank media basket in chamber 1 have my heater in chamber 2. Make sure that’s not touching the pump either or that will cause vibration. I have the jaebo sw2 wavemaker also which I found was loud when I first got it but seems to have quietened down now it’s run in. I would definitely recommend upgraded the lights on this system I upgraded to the reefled50

The heater is clear of the pump. The sound is fine as of now. I think I’m just being picky about the sound. Funny you suggest upgrading the light....my new one should be coming today. I went cheap because I want to budget this tank and found a Nicrew 30w reef led with dual channel timer. I’m gonna give it a try. Let me know what you think!
