Hello, all. Looking to buy a RO/DI system and would like some recommendations, especially regarding how many stages. I have city water and tested it at 44 TDS. Below are numbers from the water authority’s most recent water quality report. Thanks in advance!

Depends on how much you want to spend. A unit that has a TDS meter and pressure gauge is highly advisable.

Stages, I would go with at least a 5 stage.

Prefilter, two carbon blocks, membrane and DI chamber.

Obviously don’t want to spend any money unnecessarily. Any advantage to moving to a 6 or 7-stage (BRS sells them)? I’m thinking that with my water’s already low TDS, it may not be necessary to go above 5-stage get to 0 TDS. Thanks for the feedback!

The extra stages may or may not be needed. These are mostly extra DI chambers. Separate DI resins, Antion and cation arent needed, but a extra mixed bed chamber may help reduce DI usage.

Most likely a five stage is a good place to start.

How many gallons do you need to make in a week? I would go with any of the sponsor's here, I would call them and see who answers the phone, who answers your questions and have an easy solution to your needs. I would not have the system or the knowledge without the ability to call them, send photos of my setup and get a correct answer.

Total system volume is 127 gallons, so thinking around 30 gallons per week to cover a water change and top off. My water appears to have nitrate and BRS website says this could be tough to remove without 6-stage.

Calling around is sound advice. Thanks!
