Could I please get a judge's ruling on who these fine fellas are? Inheritance... and a LFS that has no idea what three guys ago purchased for the frag tank. (Sorry if they don't all belong in the SPS forum)

Contestant #1- I'm told he doesn't care about light. One of those branches is about 4" long, now.

Contestant #2- The inheritance.... The colony WAS about 3 inches across and had about 10 stone fingers. These two are the ones left... They seem to go into hiding easily and stay that way for months. Just when I think its dead and part of the rockscape, a little polyp finger reaches out, like its seeing if the coast is clear. About the same time my coral beauty cleans its clock off the rock, again. .. back into hiding

Contestant #3- Another LFS find. Gotta love when the manager is on vacation and Jimmy can't describe things very well. Surrrrrreeeee.... its $20, right? I'm guessing its a/an "______pora", but which kind? Yes, it reaches out and its not near anyone it might sting.

2. Duncan coral

3.alveopora or goni. I'm not sure.

None are SPS BTW
Well, the polyps were small. #2 is definitely stony. I'm still learning the rest. Thanks for the help.

1. Looks more like some sort of gorgonian to me?
2. Duncan
3 goniopora (alveopora have 12 tentacles around the mouth)
Thanks! Wondered what the difference was when the a-pora word started cropping up in my searches. Now that you've said it, the gorgonian name is ringing a bell. Given that its branches have grown long, individually (not bushing out), I think you're on the right track.

Yeah, that's when the Duncan was THRIVING. Last week, I had given it up for good when it popped a finger, then two, out... So we'll see.
