When you buy brown ones do you dip them before you put them in your talk. I guess what i am asking does it hurt them. The porcillpora I got I just toss it in. Not really the thing to do.
always dip or quarantine ! it would have been horrible if i released all of those red bugs and aefw in the dt

fyi since it was such a bad case on one of the frags im even going as far as dipping all of my corals maybe in a weeks time depending on how i feel

Here's a group pic of the brown/white acros I got at the LFS for $5 to $15. As you can see, they have all colored up pretty nicely.
Where is this lfs. I need to go visit them. That is some nice pieces.

Yes! I love getting brownouts for cheap but unfortunatly I havent found anymore lately. Some people say it takes around a year or more for theirs to color up mine took 40 days BUT it hasnt stopped its now forming yellow tips so im excited to see how it looks around the 6 month mark. I did do alot to rush the process though I went ultra low nutrient which brings out color, but also used a supplement that reduces zooxanthelae to show more colors. Anyways I only have picture of one now so here it is, she is much smaller if you notice now thats because a rock fell on it and broke some branches but it recovered fast.

Now THAT is what a call a colony! How far apart are those photos? And what do you have for lights?
Jan 8, 2017 - today

The coral has been grown under SB Reef Lights for the first year and now has a single T5 supplemented.

I don't know if this counts but I was given this frag. I dipped it in ro water. My mistake and I killed it with in a hour it was solid white. When the blues where on I could see little specks on it.

thanks for sharing!

bayer advanced complete insect killer is what i always use! 1ml-10ml of bayer per 4 oz of tank water is fine wait about five minutes and your done. rinse with tank water!

p.s. dont use the old frag water for the rinse it may have free floating pests

I thought I pull from my saltwater can and mixed up dip. I pulled from my ro/di can. I was talking and paying attention. Yes it is a bonsai.
