Who has a TRUE Weeping Willow?

Not sure if this qualifies as a weeping willow. When the flow is off the tentacles just fall.

That depends if you decide to call it that. I linked an article by the owner of the original weeping willow and according to the owner.. there are no original weeping willow corals for sale because he never sold any frags I guess.

So I guess it is for everyone to decide if they want to call other leathers that look similar the same name or not. There isn't any rule you can't call it a weeping :)

We do this with other corals like 'strawberry shortcake acro' for many acros that look similar but not from same parent colony.

To be fair, shortcakes are a very rare case where the name actually lines up with science. All A. microlados are shortcakes and if someone calls an acro a shortcake and it isn't a microlados, they are wrong. The normal strawberry shortcake just happens to be the "default" of how microlados look like, it's not a variant, it's the default,you can find plenty that really look identical and a few that have some extra colors near the tips and get a different shortcake name

Thats not really the normal case with fantasy names

Ya, naming can be helpful to find certain corals we want. Other names are more of a stretch...

For awhile they were giving NAMES... to clams... you can't even frag a clam... but ya.. they tried that.

I remember seeing clams under some of those names and even now, some still get given names like ‘Ultra’ which is usually given to a clam that’s bright blue.

I really like my toadstool whatever it's called. So much better than the standard leather/toadstool. It brings a lot of movement in my tank. Originally it was only 2" diameter about 7 months ago, and now it's at least 10-12". Appreciate the input.

Ya I think it looks great. Plus its nice to have something become a colony and not stay a nub for a few years.
