Why is everyone selling their Radions

I have been scrolling through the equipment for sale and have been seeing Radion gen 4 pro’s for sale every other post and was wondering why?

What is everyone switching to?

Interesting observation. I have also noticed Radions for sale recently, but might just be a coincidence. I have seen kessils on a friend's tank, and they look amazing. The shimmer is impressive.

I have owned Radion gen 3 and sold them because Ecotech stopped making replacement parts when they came out with gen 4.

I have Kessil's on one tank. I set up another tank last Year. Everyone was talking about Radion's so I went with them. From the second I turned them on and put a PAR meter on them I regretted buying them. I sold them and have Kessil's on both of my tanks. I have a couple AP700. The software adjusts. You adjust to the color you like and they make sure the spectrum is good for corals. For me to try and get the same color the Radion's put out way less PAR.

Radions are sold the most because they are purchased the most. I have them and i have no complaints.

^ I would say that's the nuts and bolts of it right there. Just like you see a lot of MP-40s floating around for sale that get snatched up right away. Volume.

I don't think a new version of radion is something Ecotech is focusing on... i would imagine their new controller and dosing pump system is taking up all their time.

When and where have they announced Gen 5? I heard only up grade was getting rid of the need for reef link. But that is only a rumor.

Main purpose of this post is I have seen a lot of Radion gen 4 for sale and was curious if everyone is moving back to T5 lights or just another manufacturer of LED lights.

As far as best light I personally do not think there is a such thing. I know a lot of people locally that use different lights with great tanks. To me it’s all stability. A friend of mine uses Radion gen 2 pro’s and has a great tank with great color and growth. I know 2 other guys who use either MH or black box lights and have great colors and growth.

But the arguments for what is best is everyone’s personal choice.

That’s not fully true....
I just ordered 4 extension power cables for my 4 Gen 3s without an issue.

Let me clarify, I wanted to order replacement pucks for my gen 3. Are the power cables for the gen 3 and gen 4 the same? Plus if it was not true then why would Ecotech email me back and say they have stopped making replacement parts.

It’s because it’s the most common premium fixture I believe. If there were an equivalent amount of other fixtures, would probably see those too.

No, actually they are slightly different, but Ecotech made me 4 adapters to use for free of charge, so the claim of bad customer service is also void in my eyes as they didn’t have to give them to me for free
