Hi all, I need help figuring out why my favia is receding. I have had it for 2 weeks and it always looked healthy, I just noticed this today. I have it on the sand bed so it is low flow low light, there are 3 other favias beside it along with a micromussa that are all fine. I got it from a local guy so it didnt get shipped, and I dipped it and set the lights on acclim mode for the first week. It doesn't look like bleaching, it's like the flesh is receding from the outer edges. Is this a common issue? All params are normal and have remained stable, no swings in anything.
Thanks in advance.

Are you feeding them? I've noticed most LPS do a lot better with regular feedings of meaty foods

I have not started feeding yet. I had bought reefroids but then read about the phosphate issues with it so I returned it and I have benereef on the way. Also have some aminos on the way. Hopefully those help.

Moderate light and water flow, feed 3x per week.
Assure you are not getting false salinity readings and lights are not bright

It's hard to tell from the pic. I've found favia to be pretty diverse in the conditions that they will grow under. I grow pallida, lizardensis, and speciosa from the bottom of the tank to the upper middle. They appreciate medium to lower flow and any par under 120.

It takes quite a bit to make them recess so assuming your parameters are in a normal range, I'd look for more obscure catalysts.
