After a few false starts I am working on setting up a tank which will be located in my basement. I have LED can lights that are on a dimmer, but I typically run them on full blast since it's a basement. Will these lights affect affect the tank in any way? Contribute to algae? Raise my PAR? ...anything else I might not be thinking of?

The wattages and color temps of the bulbs are varaibles you might need to consider. The distance from the tank will also need to be taken into acount. However, unless the lights have an insane wattage I can't see them being any more a factorthan lighting typically encountered in living areas.

It's very insignificant amount of light to do anything. Out of curiosity I just pulled my Par meter out and here's what it reads 5 to 6 feet away, directly under one of my 4" LED can lights. Of course they're not all created equal but it's so low it's negligible.

Okay, cool. That puts my mind at ease, and I greatly appreciate you going above and beyond with the PAR meter! Thanks!
