Hello all. I’m a lurker and just enjoyed reading everyone’s post. Today, my husband woke up with his tank all cloudy! We don’t know the cause. All the fish are dying and we are hoping at this point to save the corals. In less than 24 hours, the entire tank turned cloudy and despite changing water we don’t seem to clear it up at all. Help!

Nothing seems to be in the power head either. My husband said that he put vodka 1-2 ml vodka and reef vitamins last night. pH appears to be too low. We are currently doing water changes. I think at this point we will accept the fish are dead and we are trying to save our corals. Anemone appears to be intact.

Do you guys suggest we just keep on changing water until it clears? Or we moved all the corals to another tank?

uh uh maybe it's the Nem spawning. I have 40G with 3 Nems. One as big as half a foot and the other 2 are 4 inches each probably larger! I've had them for like 8 months! :(

A little more info about tank would help.

How old?
Parameters?
What's all in the tank fish and coral wise?

Can you find all the nems? The cloudiness looks like one got chewed up...

If that's the case run carbon or your favorite purigen/chemiclean asap and do a larger water change.

Just do a basic water change. Consistent with your normal weekly maintenance schedule gallon wise.

Vodka was regular, but I think he missed 1 week of it and restated again. Probably not a good a idea.
If that's true then that's all it is, bacteria bloom. Ensure the protein skimmer is doing it's job, maybe let it skim a bit wetter if possible and it will clear up.

Do you know what the pH is in the tank?
