Worms in new tank

Just set up the tank yesterday with "live" rock that now looks kinda dead, but I have seen a few live worms today in the tank. Are these "good" worms? I can't seem to find an ID on them.

If they are good, do I need to feed them? Will they make it through the cycling process?

As long as your salinity is between 1.023 and 1.o26sg your cycle should be quick. Bristleworms are debated as being beneficial and an eye sore. They can grow to exponential numbers but do a good job as clearing detritus. Low nutrients will result in low population.

I had no idea what it was, thank you so much! My husband guessed it was a bristleworm but I trust you guys more than him in this regard. [emoji23]

Thanks for the ID! I just read they eat dead stuff, which I'm sure there is a lot of with all the die-off from the rock, so I don't need to feed them?

No. They take care of themselves! :) If you see a ton of them it's most likely due to over feeding. Kind of a good indicator so to speak. No harm otherwise.

Definitely. I swear fish and birds are super high maintenance. Three macaws and two parakeets is really impressive!!
