Hey guys, I have a small (less than three inch) harlequin tusk. Can I add a mystery wrasse and a fairy wrasse?

If I do so, should I add the two of them at the same time?

Thanks

I've heard a mystery is more aggressive than other wrasses, but not sure about if you add them at the same time. I'd think he'd end up being aggressive towards them anyway.

Can't comment on the Harlequin, never kept one.

Bt, you answer all of my questions sooner or later, thank you for that.

That being said...the harqi seems to give some playful nips to the purple and the navarchus angel from time to time, I think aggression in itself will be the issue.

I was just seeing some threads on wrasses and issues and was wondering if there was some sort of things like tangs where they should only be added one per tank or all at the same time etc.

I might want to add another fairy wrasse farther down the road as well.

Well, as you can see from my video and Marvins awesome video, you can safely add multiple fairy and flasher wrasses together, but I've seen where its recommended to take out a mystery wrasse if you plan to get anothers.

And I'm glad to help. I've been doing saltwater tanks for 6+ years, and have dumped a lot of money into trying different things. Plus, I spend A LOT of time online reading forums and such. Learning new things is something I'm passionate about, and this is a great hobby to feed that.

Yea, I would hope that is the reaon that we are all here...I have been reefing for going on 9 years this spring.

But, no matter how stupid I think things are, I like to bounce them off of other people...more thoughts on the matter the better.

Ill maybe add the fairy wrasse first, and then add the mystery last. Thanks

My tank is a 125g...may be expanding to a 180g however. That extra depth is just great.

The two fairy wrasses I am looking at are:

Paracheilinus mccoskeri Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Reef Aquariums: McCosker's Flasher Wrasse

Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis Golden Rhomboidalis Wrasse

I can get better prices than these through my various wholesalers that I order through...so I am waiting for her to get her hands on either or. I also have some friends that have a couple different wholesalers, so I will be looking through their lists as well.

Nice. I have a Rhomboid in my tank, gorgeous fish, and great personality. Swims around a lot and comes up to me when I'm at the glass already, and I've only had him for a few weeks.

My personal favorite now has to be the Labouti Fairy Wrasse. I've also emailed LiveAquaria and my wholesaler to see if they can get me an Attenuatus like Brad, Marvin, and Sara have on here :)

They are great fish, dont add to the bioload much, lots of color and activity, and if you have larger fish they will often clean up after messy eaters.

Just wanted to update on this - I have a mystery wrasse and a melanarus wrasse. Both were living peaceably in my 125 with a purple and yellow wrasse, and then I added a green wrasse.

Green wrasses are to be avoided at all costs.

They are a fast growing bully that will systematicaly remove your other wrasses. No good. Trying to get him out and restock some other wrasses at this point.
