Wrasse Question

I most likely know the answer to this question :sad: Is this a fish I just can't have in my 150g tank? Not that I was going to run right out and buy it yesterday.

I think you could, not any easy fish or a cheap one but they do OK. Very comparable to a leopard wrasse as far as care goes.

You could keep it in a 150g. The care and difficulty of Anampses wrasses is similar to that of Leopard wrasses, but Anampses are usually larger. They benefit from a mature system, a sand bed and a tight fitting lid.

I'd do one in a 150, and while the care is similar to a leopard, the difficulty is definitely turned up a notch. This species needs a lot of frequent feedings; mine needs 4+ per day to keep her weight on.

I would need a auto feeder to do 4 feedings a day, have never used one, but could check into it.

I agree, this would be difficult. A 150 would be large enough but a very stable tank, with lots of oxygen, and feeding 2-5x per day small feedings, even nori would work as well, would be best.

I have great success with Leopards but I wouldn't drop that kind of coin on a difficult to keep fish. I know that it is guaranteed for 14 days but it's a huge risk.

I would avoid this until you're a "seasoned veteran" and can keep difficult wrasse. I have several expert only and difficult wrasses (Radiant wrasse, Male Blue Star Leopard, Female blue star leopards, potters wrasse, ornate leopard, black leopard, regular leopard, and red coris wrasse) but I still probably wouldn't try even if money was no object.
