I’m looking for differences between these two wrasses.
Yellow: Halichores chrysus
Canarytop Wrasse: Halichoeres leucoxanthus

I think I could pick them out and differentiate them visually by pictures or in a LFS. I’m asking specifically about temperament. If there was a spectrum of aggression of wrasses, which would be more peaceful??

I realize that aggression varies based on a host of factors including order of adding to the system, fish size, tank size, Other fish, relative humidity and other factors.

I’m currently 2+ years in with my 75G display tank and have a yellow “don’t call it coris” wrasse that’s doing great. I also have a red coris, bluestreak cleaner, Cortez Rainbow Wrasse (finally transitioning to Paddlefin/terminal colors) and a Sixline.

Yellow seems super peaceful but I’m curious about what differences would be with a Canarytop. Attached is a recent pic of this yellow, newest fish in tank.

My Halichoeres leucoxanthus is extremely peaceful even at a large 4 inch size. His cheeks are getting that pretty rainbow pattern and colors. Def one of the chiller fishes in my 180. I just added 2 new fairies to my tank and my lubbocks went ape-sh t on the acclimation box with the 2 new additions. I left them there for 3 days and used the mirror trick when I did release them. The lubbocks went nuts on the mirror and the canary top did nothing but just hang out and watch itself in the mirror. This is probably a good gauge of aggression that it did not react at all to another fish of it's own size.

Lessons learned is the acclimation box is must have non-negotiable when adding new fish for me.
