Hello all! Need some help from the wrasse lovers. About 3 months ago I added 2 yellow Cori’s wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus) and 1 radiant wrasse (Halichoeres Iridis) to my 300 gallon, I added all 3 at the same time and they where all the same size to try and reduce the aggression between them. My plan worked until 2 weeks ago. One of the yellow Cori’s has been chasing the radiant around the tank and flashes at him when he tries to get close to the rocks or the female yellow chorus wrasse. I have noticed the one bullying the radiant wrasse is the yellow Cori’s wrasse that changed to male (starting to get green and blue markings on its head and is about twice the size of the other 2 wrasse). The female wrasse doesn’t really seem to care to much.
I’ve tried a mirror (ordering another one to try one on both sides of the tank) and feeding more to help with aggression and nothing has seemed to help. I have about 200lbs of rock in the tank and have another 80 or so left over from an old tank I can add. It seems to be territorial aggression and it’s not towards any other fish in the tank. I’m wondering if it’s from the 2 Cori’s wrasse being a pair and the male sees the radiant as a threat?
Any advice would be a huge help! The radiant seems to be okay for now and has no noticeable damage, but I hate seeing it get chased around all day.
