WVNeds's Tanks

I was reading about bio reactors. There is not much on R2R about them but it looks like something I perhaps need.
I could buy one from Bashsea for $700
Or make one.
Hmmmm

Are you talking about a reactor for biopellets?

My next upgrade is done. I changed my DI to 2 20 inch cannisters, repurposed the old DI cannister to a 2nd sediment filter, added a second carbon block and added a booster pump.
Hydros turns the pump on when it calls for water.

I am trying to make everything as bullet proof as possible for when my knee gets chopped.
I need to do a thorough glass and pump cleaning. Maybe next week.

The new skimmer is working well.

Been thinking of adding a bio reactor too. I always have high nitrates on my 180. My LFS also suggested one too. More money to spend!

I considered it. It seems to be an interesting option but I am already running biopellets and a sulfur denitrater.
My params are staying at .1 and 10 while I do almost nothing.
Didnt seem needed right now.

I am trying to decide what to do next, if anything.

24 hour care for a 91 year old for 6 months has drained us a bit. Luckily the system has proven robust enough to run itself for weeks at a time.

I have had some notable deaths. 2 of the long spine urchins and one of my bicolor angels. According to the net the urchins only live 5 years so I think time got them. I have no Idea with the angel. The last large crab finally passed as well. They were a lot of fun.

This was on the live rock when I got it. It randomly appears every now and then.

Way past time to prune the xenia...

The 75 is sitting in the fish room going through the ugly stuff with some ulva growing in it.

In general the whole system is trending toward going sterile with microfauna completely lacking diversity anymore.
I would like to fix that first but short of buying a shipment of live rock for the 75 gallon I am not sure how. I am so envious of people like PaulB that can just run over and grab some ocean for their tank.

I need to take the gravel out of the 240 and clean it and only put half back.
Perhaps the energy will come back after a week or so resting. The knee replacement is coming up soon.

I have been spending quality time on the couch with ice packs and pillows to elevate my leg while sampling the finest hydrocodone
It seems the more range of travel your leg has the more severe the PT people get in therapy. The last one left my leg extremely swollen and painful.
I am sure my therapist Marky D Sade knows what he is doing. He is so happy and laughs while pulling on my leg.
It feels like it is going to come right apart like a hot wing being eaten.
I get it to work a little and have another session.

I haven’t gone to the basement where the fish and computer are much this week. I suppose they are still there

considering having Jill saw it off and making a peg leg

large friend is watching over me
Lovebird made eggs in the food bowl and is sitting on them
Hoping to make gingerbread men tonight.
a hope I had every night but it has hurt to much to stand

will be back soon
I am carving a peg leg in case I decide to give up on this

What gives, Ned?
