I just added 8000mg of fluconazole to the system. I have been debating it for a while.
IMG_2315_heic-L.jpg

Hopefully it won't kill the macro.
IMG_2314_heic-L.jpg

If it does I will try again.
I decided it would be better to get rid of a small amount now rather than let it become a real problem.

I put a second snowflake in the 75 gallon tank. He has gone into the bottom I built up with the bricks and is between them.
I need another fish in there since I took the trigger out. Something to swim with the 2 spot. He has become a bit reclusive. Something that won't eat the shrimp before the lion does and is too big for the eel to taste.

Hey @WVNed - not sure if you meant to post your last two posts to your own thread but you may want to double check with whatever giveaway you entered.

Something I didn't know
Snowflake eels are vigorous diggers.
The hole the new eel made into the infrastructure of the tank. He is living down where the bricks are.
IMG_2328_heic-XL.jpg

It came up and ate a salad shrimp from the stick so I think it is going to be fine. It is only half as big as the other one. The lady at the LFS said they were eating silversides. I have some here but feed the eels salad shrimp, squid and tilapia chunks. The big one will eat anything and looks for it. I dont feed him from a stick usually.

I wish this guy would eat something other than live shrimp. I just ordered 200 more. These are a saltwater variety. I am going to spread them around the system and see what happens. I would love for them to start making more.
IMG_2329_heic-XL.jpg

I have another large crab in the big tank. None of the fish have disappeared yet. I am probably going to have to get him out. he is up to 3-4 inches. If I put it in with the other one he will eat it. I had that happen already.
IMG_2333_heic-L.jpg

I finally have enough flow but a second MP60 is on the way.

There is a lot of stuff in the water but I just added 2 teaspoons of Reef Chili and the skimmer is set to not skim because of the fluconazole I put in yesterday.

I would like to add some more corals to the big tank for some color but there are several not reef safe things in there. Then I look at the prices and it would be an expensive gamble. Most of the colorful things would make tasty morsels. I need something that grows and is hardy.
IMG_2331_heic-L.jpg

One part of the hobby I loved is gone. I would go to the LFS and buy the pieces of coral that had fallen off the plugs or growing in their frag system wild. I could get them for $5-10 dollars and then grow them out. That store is gone now. There are no more here.

Too bad you'll have to get rid of him.

I ordered 200 feeder shrimp from a place I saw mentioned on here.
So I get them today. No tracking sent.

IMG_2356_heic-L.jpg

obviously not 200 shrimp so I count the shrimp and I email them.

I received my order today. There were only 125 shrimp in it. The bag was marked 200. I have been buying shrimp 100 at a time for a while now and it was obvious there weren't 200 there.
Please send me the rest.

Their reply

Hi

Unless your telling me that you counted them. There's no way that you can guess at how many by looking at it. When the shrimp are running smaller we usually pack 140 for the 100 count. This batch of shrimp is larger in size and they will look like less count if your just looking at it.

I don't know where you have been purchasing shrimp but our counts are usually accurate and we add extra to every package, depending on the size.

I don't think I will be buying from them again.

I set up a FW tank trying to raise ghost shrimp. The LFS keeps them in with the rosy minnows and every time I get 6 dozen shrimp they net out a minnow too by accident and just give it to me free.
No new shrimp but the minnows are making babies.
I finally start raising fish, and they are ones you can buy for 19 cents.

I did all my testing again and tweaked the chemical stew I am putting in the tank. The iron and iodine still test low so I slightly upped the rates of Trace 1 and 2 plus slightly increased the Ferrion and started Iodion. I changed the Ca, Mg and Alk a bit. We will see again next Sunday.

The fluconazole is working. It seems to do almost the same thing Vibrant does. It didn't faze the chaeto but the ulva growth slowed way down.

I pulled a bunch more out today.

8000mg of fluconazole into 400 gallons. No skimming for 2 days. Added Feb 24th.

No effect on the chaeto. Ulva stopped growing but didnt die. I don't know if it will come back or not yet. Other macros seem okay.
IMG_2381_heic-M.jpg

The bit of turf algae is gone.
IMG_2382_heic-M.jpg

All in all a success.

Where is the food Ned?

The flow still isn't right. I will probably clean it up and move the pumps again.

I moved the pumps back to the ends. Made 2 pump groups. The MP40s are reef crest anti sync and the 60s are short pulse anti sync. Now to watch the gorgs for a few days and see if they get brown.
I cleaned the glass, ran the rocks through the dishwasher and swept the bottom with the carpet sweeper.
Louie was helping me but he pooped out.

I have a mimic tang and CBB coming to go in the 75.

The flow seems good in the 240 now with 2 pumps per each end.

I am starting to put corals in it. 9 little ones so far. Only one has done poorly and it was shipped in a bag with no water in it. I have never seen that before except with snails.

My phosphates and nitrates are up again, but I am sure it is from the fluconazole killing the algae. I raised the Nopox dose back up.

I ordered a new ozone generator. It is an Ultrazone 360. I will plug it into the controller I already have. No desiccator needed.
I use a SoClean on my CPAP. It makes a lot more ozone that the Poseidon does. The Poseidon just doesn't seem to be producing like it did when new.

I hope the crab doesn't take all the frags under the rock again tonight. I haven't glued them down yet. I had to take some rocks out and get them back this morning. I tried to grab him and failed.

As I suspected the crab struck again and took another frag. I found it in the center of the back under the overflow. He didnt even wait for the light to go out.
I put it back again
IMG_2390_heic-XL.jpg

I caught it this time. He was in a weakened state having just molted.
IMG_2389_heic-XL.jpg

I put it in the sump. I expect the bigger one in there will eat it. Or maybe they will make more baby crabs.
The other one is twice this big now.
I dont know if there are more. I took out one of the hairy purple ones and put him in the refugium 2 days ago.

Had to have Lilly put down this morning. It was time.
IMG_1699-M.jpg

Louie is sitting with me.
I am watching for the new fish to get here.
I might have gotten the timers for the lights fixed. I hate DST. The fans came on after the lights did which isn't good.
