Yasha 90L - Back to reefing

Hello all! Finally back to “Fishkeeping” after 7 years away from the hobby.

I’ve had freshwater tanks for many years, but only been into saltwater for about a year, and the hobby / my old nano Reef tank had to be put aside due to family priorities.. But we’re back again with the fishies!

Tank: Aqua Medic Yasha 90L AIO (23 gallons)
Light: Radion XR15 Pro G6
Skimmer: Aqua Medic Evo 100
Flow: 2 Ecotech Vortec MP10 QD
Heater: JBL 200w
Return: Aqua Medic DC Runner 600
ATO: Tunze Osmolator 3 Nano (being shipped right now)

Inhabitants:
2 Snowflake Clowns (waiting for me at the LFS)


Started cycling with live sand / dry rock, and adding precycled media tomorrow that I have had sitting in a sump of an established system.

Hoping to cycle with 2 clowns, as they are a pair and with the cycled media and live sand I should be good to go with adding them tomorrow? And then perhaps adding some snails / hermit crabs within 2 weeks.

Anything I need to be dosing right away for cycling? It should be cycling just fine with the precycled media and live sand, but I am not sure as I am new to saltwater

Now just to get this “gunk” cleared off, anyone knows why it is there? Is it due to salt mixing in tank?

I think it could be the sand. Is that sand you see above the return nozzle?

Yeah, I think I have made a mistake with the ultra fine live sand… Thinking about getting something a bit more coarse

So far everything is good. I have added quite a few corals, CUC and pods.

Very nice! Will be cool to see this progress, is that a GSP frag? Isolated? From what I hear they take over scapes in a hurry.

Yes they do I had a gsp rock separated from everything, and it literally grew on the sandbed trying to reach the other rocks until I would cut it off and give the excess away. That stuff will grow ANYWHERE

I have put it up top of my scape, planning to get it to grow on the back and up on the glass

It will most likely need some trimming in the front!

Another Update!
Have added a Firefish, 3 Hammers, a leather coral and a big frogspawn.

I am dealing with a few flatworms, so getting a small six line next week
