I've gotten peppermint shrimp from a few places, but the ones from KP have been the best. I picked up a couple, refreshed my CUC and threw in a sponge to fill out the order.

Here's the sponge. It's a yellow frilly sponge. Reportedly it's from pretty deep, so it's NPS. I'm hoping I can keep it happy. I didn't glue it here. Do I need to? It doesn't seem to be going any where.

I have two big ones and two little ones. They need a low flow rate and must be fed microscopic food. I stir up the substrate to get the microfauna into the water column. You may see pores open, these let in food. If it starts to decay, do not worry. Even a quarter inch piece will grow into a full size one.

Thanks! Will phyto do the trick or is that too big?

What about attaching to the rock? Am I okay wedging it in and not gluing?
Phyto will be fine. Still, stir up the substrate. Try to feed at least twice a day. They feed throughout the day. My four are unattached, just wedged into a hole in a rock.

I've heard stories about sponges(Blue sponge) nuking tanks when they die because they're toxic. Also whats the green thing that large sponges produce ?
