Due to the Hawaii ban we can no longer purchase yellow tangs easily. I was trying to get a ‘tang gang’ algae clean up crew before any algae breaks out like suggested on the @Bulk Reef Supply YouTube page.
Does any have an alternative option? I mainly would like algae control so I plan on getting a lawnmower Blenny but I was wondering if there other tang available that graze algae as well as yellows. Thanks you

Kole tang and if you have it plan to get a 6 foot tank before they mature hippo and purple are beautiful options. I would stay away from the powder tangs. They are very fragile.

My Purple tang acts exactly like my Yellow tang in every way especially when it comes to grazing, when the lights are on they both graze on everything in the tank that has any hint of algae growing, from lights on to off.
I love my P Tang....yellows, meh! That deep purple with the bright yellow tail? That's where it's at!!

Ooooo I like. I think I’m between this or a purple tang. I was looking for something as close to a yellow tang as I can get. These are great options. You guys are the best!

Out of all my fish, the 2 spot Bristletooth does most of the cleaning. My One Spot fox face also does a good job, and is Yellow, and has a great personality.

I just bought a Goldlined Rabbitfish— supposedly “ravenous” at eating algae; but since it arrived at only 1” long, I guess it will be some time before I find out!

I only have experience with my one white tail bristletooth but find that it only pecks at the algae growing on the glass with the occasional chomp around the rock. Seems to do nothing to my healthy crop of GHA whether it’s long or short.

I have a flame fin tomini. I like it. Reminds me of a chevron a little.

Thanks for all the input guys. What’s everyone’s opinion on the flame tang?? I was thinking going flame tang for utility and foxface for the color. Not trying to buy a $200 fish in a new system
