He keeps going into the sump. He looks strange around his mid section. Is this normal coloration and he seems kind of slim?

Fish is quite thin. In addition, is it currently eating and if so, what foods are you offering it?
Looks like it may have been pinched between rocks hence the shape of body.
Also is fish breathing normal or labored?

Normal breathing, he continues to go down into the sump. I find him in the reefmat every other day or so. I have never seen him sift sand or show up to get food during the two feedings I do daily. I have had him for over a month so he has got to be eating something right? Frozen Mysis, Brine, pellets, there is usually nori on a clip at most times as well.

This fish spends its time close to its cave or hiding in its cave. The behavior you describe indicate either not enough rockwork for this fish or it’s being bullied. IMO.

The poor fish is severely skinny. Have you ever watched it eat? How much and what are you feeding?

This fish need some meaty foods in addition to what you are feeding such as chopped krill, plankton and even LRS fish Frenzy. Theyre not big on nori and the reef mat may have played a role with the bruising on the fish

I was able to witness him eating small amounts during dinner just now. He had a few mysis and has started sifting sand... it's almost spiteful. However, im happy to see this
