My yellow watchman died. I got him and the pistol shrimp at the same time so they grew together. Can I get another small watchman or will he be too small for a larger shrimp now or does it not have anything to do with them pairing or aggression?

I replaced a YWG with a much smaller one after my first one died after about a year. The pistol was about the same size maybe larger than the new YWG, they are still hanging out together a year later. I don't think the size matters too much.

I just got a YWG after my other Yasha goby died. My tiger pistol shrimp is easily 2 times the size of my YWG. I released him opposite side of the tank from the pistol, I was afraid he would just be a snack.

After a few weeks they found each other and since then went back to burrowing through the entire tank.

I'll also add I have a peppermint shrimp that also moved in with them. They are a strange trio...

No size worries. I've added tiny YWG to full grown tiger pistol no prob.
