You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I’m sure someone will try to convince me to shove the endemic species in my carry on
All I'm saying is, a few mason jars wouldn't be all that suspicious. Black them out and put a jordani in one for me.

That's what I said too!! I was told no :loudly-crying-face:

So I’ve been working 12 hour days in the sun and have been far too exhausted to anything more than try and keep up to date here. The job is absolutely emotionally devastating. It’s hard to connect with it until your working in it but thousands of people’s home turned to ash.

However today I had a half day and found a tiny reef. Had only two types of coral, mostly a knobly cream colored coral that was pretty cabbage like. And I believe a type of green montipora. It also had tons of urchins. One species was very weird. Bright red with very very thick spines. Like hotdogs.

The king of the reef was a parrotfish and an absolutely huge naso tang. The naso was at least 1.5’ not counting its tail tassels and so so fat. Tons of zebra tang and a few moorish idols too. Also a yellow butterfly with two white spots.

I’m home!

And my tanks seemed to have survived pretty well. No fish losses including the injured flasher. I’m purposely going to ignore my tanks until tomorrow as I am pooped.

I am also compiling a list of things I saw in Hawai’i with emphasis on the ones I wish were in the hobby.

Some pictures using an orange filter. Things seem to be doing really well despite my Tunze osmilator breaking. Which is annoying as I've not had it long and its dang expensive.

I was going to suggest making stew... I like your idea better.

Well I just made another dumb mistake. Forgot to replug everything in after yesterdays water change…

I unplugged the ATO, skimmer, and worst heater. Temp is 72. Hopefully everything will be fine?

They’ll be fine IME.

Corals usually suffer from temp raises, not decreases. I’ve had temps drop down to 72 with no issue to my acros at all.

One time 2 years ago I cranked the temp high (84F-86F I was trying to do fish parasite fallow) and I instantly saw STN the next morning.

Based on my experience, they’ll be good. :)

Thanks! Everything looks good honestly so hopefully nothing wrong. I mean temps in the ocean are usually low 70s right?

Reef-building corals cannot tolerate water temperatures below 64° Fahrenheit (18° Celsius). Many grow optimally in water temperatures between 73° and 84° Fahrenheit (23°–29°Celsius), but some can tolerate temperatures as high as 104° Fahrenheit (40° Celsius) for short periods.
It won’t let me post the link to the source.

The link to the website was broken.
