For those who, like myself, got out of reefing a while ago then back in:

What surprised you the most upon returning?

I was surprised at all the info that was available. I remember being at the mercy of my lfs for care tips and strategies.

First would be the cost somethings are cheaper, but also way more expensive. Second would be the amount of livestock that was considered expert back then, that is now considered beginner friendly. My third would be the amount of people that are using RODI now. Back when I first started it was rare to hear of because of how expensive it was.

Knowledge, & information! Back then, no one really didn't test for parameters. I remember boiling water instead of using RO.

Oh, and things being much more expensive.

Hi, I was away for almost 11 years, it's good to see that the testing has not changed much, and the cost is about the same, for I need good healthy water for my fish and corals, and when I do my testing it starts to all come back to me. For the big difference is the prices on corals has more than doubled, and they are a lot smaller, I guess we are in biden economics and we have to make due.

Agreed on the info for sure! The lighting surprised me in a good way. Also the apparent death of the wet/dry filter, and undergravel filter use.
