Zoanthid/Paly Predators Pics and description.

I want to start a thread that details all the zoanthid predators we have come across:

Zoanthid Spiders:

Size:
From 1/4 inch to 1/2

Appearance
Like a normal household spider but light light brown in appearance.

spiders. can be so small you can hardly see them to 1/4" IME. i guess they can get bigger though.....

nudis. so small you can hardly see them to nearly 1/2"

zoa eating amphipod...there is a spider in this pic too but i guarantee you the amphipod pictured here is a RPE munching machine

spider and a sundial. most sundials I have seen are 1/16-1/4". I have heard of 1/2"ers though

Mr. Cobergas, I would say it's not kind of odd to revive an old thread...there are many new hobbyists out there that have never heard of, nor seen, these predators. There is no harm in keeping everyone aware...please, think before you post

A long time ago, I'd never heard of sundial snails. I was shocked to learn from someone at a LFS that the single 'unique looking' snail in my tank was the cause of my zoo's sudden decline in health. If I'd known of this pest early on, I'd have been better at quarantining new animals.

This is very valuable for newcomers to the hobby.

I recently bought some zoas and something came on them that looks like a spider but it has a ton more legs; it almost looks like a brown zoa. It's about the same color and it's about 1/2" across. I thought it was just some polyp that was attached to the plug but I came hot and looked in the tank and it had moved and looked like it was trying to eat one of the polyps. I tried to suck it up with a turkey baster but it pulled all it's legs in and I couldn't get it off. The tank is dark so I can't take a picture right now but hopefully someone can tell me what it is and what to do about it.

thank you for doing this thread.... I am just setting up my tank and trying to read and educate myself as much as I can. I love the zoa's and have read about these predators but had no idea what they looked like.....

Never mind. I figured what it was. It was an anemonia majano. I removed it and everything seems fine.

If you can, try and take a picture. If it looks like the Zoanthid spider, I would get it out as fast as you can because it will eat you Zoa polyps...ask around to see the best ways to remove it...I do not have any experience with these predators
