That's going to be a great tank! Same dimensions as my DT and I love it! I used to live in the FL Keys, and Irma destroyed the island we lived on in 2017. Lost my tank to it. We now live in AZ - fewer hurricanes here LOL. Glad to see you're bouncing back!

Appreciate it. I bet the Keys was amazing until it’s not. We really contemplated moving, but just couldn’t do it. I’ll have check your tank out. I really want to set this up with a closed loop system, but haven’t decided 100%. Would like 4 sea swirls in each corner. Don’t want to have pumps and all over the display panels. Maybe mp60’s on the back wall wouldn’t be bad.

Thank you. Going to get a lot of inspiration from your build thread. Amazing tank and I have a lot of time to kill at the moment. Page 3 and amazed!!!!

@Dmax beautiful tank. Will be nice to see this one taking shape. Can’t wait to see it get wet and start moving some of those colonies over from the frag tanks.

Adding some Led bars to the lighting system. Wanted to try and get the pop that the MH won’t provide. Will see how 2-72” Reefbrites do.

I really like the way they make the tank look. Really getting anxious to get water in it, but taking my time hoping to do it right the first time around.

Started working on the plumbing on the return side. Was really hard deciding to use this blue line pump I’ve had from a large lifereef skimmer I used on my frag tanks. I no longer run that skimmer and decided to use the pump on this build. I really like the reliability of these pumps, but the power draw is a lot more than the DC pumps these days. This pump doesn’t care about head pressure and I usually run a lot of flow thru my sumps. Hopefully I don’t have to throttle it back and the tank will drain properly.

Returns are finished. Went from 1” to 3/4” up to the bulkheads then to the loc line. Wish it was 1” all the way, but it will work.

Today I worked on the drains from the external overflow into the sump. The two lines with valves will hopefully handle the amount of water my return pump will deliver. The line to the left of those is the emergency drain. Made some good progress over the last couple days. Hopefully continue knocking this project out.

The drain lines are touching the bottom of the sump at the moment. Have to get some bulkheads to attach the lines to the sump. Will help support that small run and allow me to cut the pipe going into the sump a couple inches above the bottom of the sump.

So one thing I’m torn on is setting up a closed loop on this tank. My initial plan was to use two vectra l2’s each pumping to two 1” sea swirls. The bottom of the tank is 1” pvc so drilling isn’t a issue. I just would like to go this route if the flow would be adequate. I plan on having minimal rock work and plan on having the majority of it elevated. I would just hate to go thru the trouble and extra plumbing if I will still need to put mp60’s or other pumps to increase flow.

Appreciate it. We are getting there. Just glad to see progress being made finally.
Its tough!!! Our Red Sea seam split so that was NOT fun but at least we had the opportunity to salvage what we could. I can’t even imagine what you had to deal with!

You know it’s going to be a good build when you see the whole front door removed just to get the tank in the house. Haha

Can’t wait to see this come together.

Dedicated brother. Lol

Should of seen the wife’s face when I took power tools to the front door. She’s on board, but really questioning what I was doing.

That’s horrible. Last weekend I received a phone call Sunday at 7am. Good friend of mine said his tank was leaking all over his floor. Went to his house and his Red Sea 250 was leaking out the front bottom seam. Collected all his coral and fish and holding it for him until he can arrange what he’s going to do.

Felt horrible for him going thru that. Most people don’t understand that these are our pets just like a dog or cat.

The fish AND the corals! People cantaloupe understand that corals are living creatures. We are animal people all around and can’t understand how it does that make sense to people. Thank goodness your friend had you to hold livestock for him! I hope things bounce back. We went with Cade and I highly recommend it. Quality build and really well thought out.
