Well I have to rebuild my hood due to problems with the primer I used and the wood deteriorating too quickly so I am interested in seeing other member's DIY hoods.

Post pic's of what you have built!

I built the hood on my 75G, fun times lol ;) can't post picks right now but in my 75 photo album there are pics I believe. I didn't use paint for my exterior, just adhesive pleather ;) 6 months no issues.

How did your hood turn out?
Here is mine that I built for my 75G

Since these photos I've added another 4ftX15in top piece to fully enclose except for the side holes and the strip in the back. Used fake pleather stuff to make it look nice and cut out a section in front with a jig saw and used an old dresser drawer front for a hinged access door. Was kind fun making it ;)

Thanks.... I've kind got this OCD thing going..... it's starting to affect my ball-O-wires/fire hazard and I have been working out ideas on it.... considering integrating my light timing with my home alarm system... here are some pics of my sump for your viewing pleasure :D

Is there an AZ Forum here on R2R? I've been on the one on RC... but I've pretty much given up on RC as it it is sooo bogged down. I really want to meet up with some locals...this is kind of a introverted hobby and I'm looking for some other introverts to hang with :)

I haven't made one for a tank, but I recently made one for my fluorescent mineral display, conveniently made out of a 55 column tank. The 2 blacklight tubes emit longwave UV light, and the fixture in the middle has 3 shortwave UV tubes in it. I made it so the middle fixture is easily removable because it also has a handle on back in case one decides to go fluorescent mineral hunting (must be done at night) and you can use it in the field. This also allows for replacement of bulbs and the filter glass.

Things glowing away

Still need to decide if it's going to be painted or stained.
