I hear a lot about phytoplankton reactors and dosing it when you introduce copepods, or feed clams, etc. still, once I pour a bag of the green liquid into my aquarium, will it continue to grow naturally? Or do you have to keep resupplying the tank. If so, why?
For example, once copepods are...
Have some extra phytoplankton if anyone is interested. I currently have [7] 16.9oz water bottles full of it. Nice and dark. Grown using F/2 fertilizer (micro algae grow) from Florida Aqua Farms. Culture started with Nanno, Iso, Tetra and Thal (Ocean Magik live phyto).
$15 each.
If you want to...
I am not sure this is the right place for this but i read a few articles and thought i did it right but things are not looking right and need some help...

Hey everyone, so I noticed two new things pop up in my water intake column. First, spots that are big are white. Second, circle figures, white on outside, orangish on the inside. Not sure if these are good or bad, or whether they have to do with copepods (i see a bunch back there).
Hey all. Background info: I first put in plently of the mix of pods from algae barn, and I recently switched to podyourreef and got a specific kind of pod. But my mandarin for the past two days hasn’t moved much, and he hasn’t been searching for pods like he usually does. He has got alittle...
hello all, received copepods about a week and a half ago, I’ve been slowly adding them in. For those left in the pouches I left the cap off, and gave phyto every 2 days. Are these brown patches dead copepods? I still see many actively swimming
I had a dragonet when I first started the hobby in a 30 gallon tank. It was my first fishkeeping mistake. It was no where near established, so the dragonet eat for a few weeks and I could tell it wasn’t going as good as it could have, so I gave it to a friend who had a good copepod population...
I'm convinced it is possible and have started a series of experiments to find out that magical combination!
So why would you want to do this? Well, Phytoplankton is the base food of the ocean.. it feeds your copepods.. which intern feeds your fish and coral.. Self-sustaining live food? yes...

Hello everyone,
I am having trouble with getting a positive identification on what appears to be an Isopod of some sort.
This is the second time they have appeared in the water column since I have upgraded aquarium sizes and added live sand. They resemble Cirolanid Isopods, but they are very...
I am considering getting a mandarin but I have some questions. I've had a mandarin in the past that lived for a good amount of time, but now I have a different tank and am wondering what people think for this scenario. My current tank is a Nuvo Fusion 10 with about 8+ lbs of live live rock. It...
I have a 32G Coral Life Biocube it has been up and running for about 2 months. I used 35lbs of Life Rock instead of liverock to limit the introduction of hitch hikers. I have 3 fish, 10 hermit crabs, and 10 Astrea snails currently. I want to add some pods to the tank to get a population...
I was curious of any creative methods to target feed a Mandarin dragonet in a mature 90-gallon tank with six other fish that have relatively aggressive eating habits. I have two frostbite clownfish, one yellow tang, Hawaiian bristletooth tang, yellow watchman goby and a rainbow fairy wrasse. I...
I have been noticing more and more people talking about pods. Whether it be for a certain fish or just a CUC (clean up crew). I HIGHLY recommend getting the Tisbe pods in your tank after it is cycled. They can live in a home aquarium best from what I read or heard by word of mouth along the way...

I had this 4g IM AIO that I had to tear down at work. My fuge on my DT is not too big and I thought I would set this up as a separate pod growing tank, and put some additional Chaeto, Dragon's breath and some mangroves that I bought, well just because in it. It has live sand and rock rubble...

Long story short I did not know the Algae Barn shipping dates and when I ordered it last week I missed the cutoff time. So it shipped this week and I was out of town working and I had my daughter temp acclimate the pods and add the phytoplankton. Here's where things went bad. She added the two...
I was at a LFS and bought some Algagen Pods and noticed that the date was 8/22/17 and has a 4 week expiration date. I dumped them in with the wavemaker off and did not notice anything "squiggling" around. Granted I have poor eyesight but shouldn't I have seen something move? Also does anyone...
I am in the process of making a dwarf seahorse tank out of a Marineland either 3 or 5 gallons. The problem I'm running into is feeding the little guys. I understand that the norm is to feed bbs and bs, however, I also understand that in their natural habitat they eat mostly copepods and mysid...
I wanted to start a thread to discuss different types of live food, culturing info, pros and cons, and how to.
I am interested in all aspects of live feeding, but I figured I would ask some questions to get this discussion started!
Do you feed:
Live phytoplankton
Live zooplankton
Live...
