Dumb question of the day... (which side is "up", and does it matter?)

Hi all! (first post) I just received a Biocube 32, and after setting it up and adding live rock donated by a friend from his established tank, I have a question... A) Which side of this live rock is "up" (algae/green or not green)? B) Does it matter to the already living "things" (I have NO...

Bug Identification - "White tick" and "Single tentacle worm"

Hello! I run a 5 gallon PICO tank that until yesterday had no fish. I also feed phyto daily, so there has always been an abundance of wee beasties that have fascinated me. Most I've been able to identify (copepods, amphipods, munnid isopods, spinoid worms, spirorbid worms). However, there have...

Got some new corals. Any ideas?

I picked up a few new soft corals and was wondering if anyone could help me with a little identification. I'm not sure what any of these guys are. I tried searching for some similar ones but I just don't know for sure. I think the tall star ones are some sort of Clavularia and I thought the...

    Creature ID

I've got a 10 gallon frag tank that's been up and running for nearly 2 months now. Inside are just some basic softies: GSP, Eagle Eye ZoaK, Kenya Tree, and a few others. I added some new coral from my LFS a couple days ago and now this little blobish critter is cruising around my glass. I had...

Is this some sort of red algae or Gracilaria?

I think it's kinda neat/pretty and would like to nurture it into my new 70G setup; but want to make sure it's a friend not foe. This is growing out from a plate coral frag plug. It's light pink.

What are these on my glass? Good or bad?

Hey everyone! I set up this 3 gallon pico 2 months ago and I just beat some dinos with a uv filter. Now I am noticing these little critters on my glass, they have a little circular body with some very tiny short hairs coming out of it. Any idea what they are? Good or bad?

    Strange Macroscopic Red Bugs?

Hello all! Any ideas what these little guys are? They are very tiny, smaller than a grain of sand. And are currently all over everything in my tank, but mainly on/in the sand bed. I am very curious to see if any of you know what they might be. They are small, red/purplish and have worm-like...

    Mushroom ID?

Bought one of these back in 2017, it had a weird name like “swamp monster”. It’s been multiplying and slowly spreading. Any idea of what type it is? Are they worth anything since they’re multiplying around my tank? Thanks!

    Ever seen this bounce?

Hey guys I got a bounce mushroom colony recently, but have no idea what the name is or any other info on it. It has green/bluish bubbles and one has some orange/gold bubbles. The bubbles are varying sizes. There’s a rhodactis at the bottom next to the colony that I think is a superman.

    What clownfish is this?

On the order list its listed as RED Percula. I noticed it has the orange eyes like true percs and also 10 dorsal spines like true percs. The other occys in the shop had the normal more black eyes and the 11 spines. When this fish isn’t stressed out like in the pics, its dark red like a maroon...

    Wrasse ID

Can anyone help me ID this wrasse? It was sold as a carpenter’s flasher, but given its coloration I’m not convinced that’s the case. I’m also interested in its sex if that’s possible to tell from the photos. Thank you!

    Wall or Branching hammer I.D

Hey everyone, I recently received an order from Aqua SD. One of the corals I ordered was a branching hammer. From the looks of it, it is a walling hammer, but do not want to assume as I have limited knowledge of Euphyllia. Coral looks healthy and great. Here is a picture I took while I was...
