So I’ve slowly collected a bunch of zoa, most of which I’m assuming are low end. I just wanted to post them all so people could give me a decent idea of where they land in terms of rarity. Only rare thing I have are CB white zombies.
rastas
Orange bam bams
Blue hornets
WWC purple monsters...
Hey guys,
I’ve had these small zoas for a couple of weeks in my new tank. They’ve been dipped with “the dip” by fauna marin and then inserted in the aquarium. After a day, they started thriving and some polyps doubled already in size. However, its been a few days since many polyps haven’t...
I have several zoa frags whose heads are getting smaller. They aren’t melting and they’re still reproducing fine they’re just smaller. If they’re ok I don’t see it being an issue I like my polyps to be relatively the same size anyway. The zoa in question are my vamps in drag, purple monsters...
Need some help id’ing zoas. I got both these dudes for 5$ and don’t know what they are. I’d needed on the second pic are the blue and orange with the yellow mouth. Super deep in my biocube so hard to get pictures lol.
@footgal because, well duh.
Has anyone kept these two types of corals together in a garden? Does the mushroom hurt the zoa? Got a small one I want to try to include in my Zoa gardens.
This pic sucks I know. But if anyone can even get me close I’d appreciate it. Another 5$ frag I picked up. It’s the super orange small head in the middle. It’s not fire and ice it’s center is almost completely a radioactive orange with a dark blue skirt.
I got this frag for 5$ this weekend. I’m amazed at the colors but I have no idea what it is. Can someone please help. Tagging @footgal for obvious reasons.
I’m curious on what’s wrong with some zoas in my tank. I’ve bought a few different zoa frags. One of them has spread out a good bit. The others open up well and look fine for 2-3 days to a week. Then they start closing up for no reason that I can find and eventually end up shrinking and staying...
HI. I am, by every definition of the word, a total noob. I've had my first ever salt tank running for a month now and today I bought my first ever corals, 3 zoa frags from my LFS. I brought em home, did my daily water change, and then prepared to dip them. I put on nitrile gloves, a KN95 mask...
I’ve had this zoa for quite a bit and it’s been doing really well. Since yesterday though, one head started to only half open. Is this normal? Is there anything I should do to/for it?
Strategically designing your zoa garden isn’t talked about enough.
Starting my zoa garden was overwhelming because of the amount of color combos and variations out there, and ihad no idea how to go about picking zoas or what would look good together. This technique of applying color theory to...
Hey everyone, I’m not a super zoa grower but I do keep tabs on the latest prices online, eBay, locally, R2R, etc. However sometimes I get behind with more important things so I’d like some second opinions!
I recently purchased a wild zoa ‘mini colony’, if you will from a high end zoa guy. He...
Most of the polyps are opening on my zoanthid but it looks a little different than photos I’ve seen of them online. Just wanna make sure they’re healthy. I’ve had them for about 2 months.
So I just got some frags today from a seller who has flatworms. Excellent guy, he dipped the frags for me and did a flatworm XIT dip along with his regular coral dip while we talked. I further inspected the frags before adding them to the tank and couldn’t see anything on them (they’re small zoa...
So I’ve been periodically feeding my Zoa phyto plankton. They always look like crap after they eat. The close up on the food and then a day later look shriveled and faded. They’ll stay that way for a few days before bouncing back. Are they just pooping out their zoanthellea with the food waste...
Hello
I am looking to set up my fluval evo with a coral garden, i am more interested in corals than fish i owned a planted tropical tank a few years back and with the extra time on lockdown have decide to set up sat water nano tank.
I will post pics of thank now 8 weeks after setting up . I...
Hi everyone, as with many we are new to Reef Aquariums. Just noticed this hitchhiker on my newer Zoas and wondering if anyone can help ID. Also are they bad ? Thanks
Hey reefers. I’ve got his red/brown algea that grew on some old polyps that have since died (read got eaten by an emerald crab who is now banished). They stayed closed for a long time but they were white zombies and just went though a tank move so I don’t think it was this stuff causing that...
I just plucked two polyps off my dragonseye colony because they were turning a bruised color. Pics attached. Now I had some white zombies (which were eaten by a crab who had since been banished back to the LFS) who grew this same color but opened and ate and were fine for months. Is this just...
I’ve asked before about individual pieces on here but never on all of my Zoa at once. Lemme know what you guys think. I’d like to get a full list of what I actually have.
this is what I think I’ve got:
1) goblins on fire
2) Rasta
3) Island time
4) Bam Bam
5) Fire and Ice
6) Fire and ice...
One of my Zoa colonies won’t close not for some reason. I’ve blown food on them and touched a little with a sea squirt and they won’t close. They look like small umbrellas. Is this cause for concern?
Preface:
I had 2 different types of Zoa on a frag shelf, salinity was ~1.021 so very low not enough nutrients theoretically all coral should've died. One of my Zoa's was reproducing rapidly and the other grew an additional polyp so growing but not very quickly.
Nowadays:
Raised salinity to...
