Good morning Smorgsters! We had a jail break last night. There is a hole at the top of the acclimation box I use to feed and it is at the water level. I would have never thought the shrimp would leave the water, walk across the top of the acclimation box and do a cannon ball into the water. I’m suspicious he had some assistance because I found a tiny nail file on the sandbed under the box. I’m going to keep an eye on him for an hour or two and then release his better behaved friend before I leave for work.

Remind me how many gallons it is. Are you looking for an open water swimmer or something like my son’s orange spotted goby?

It's 6 gallons

I would be hesitant to add a free swimming fish to that size tank but this is what I found. It has to be true because it’s on the internet. I learned to completely trust the internet after reading a quote on it from our former president Honest Abe Lincoln who stated “if it’s on the internet it’s true” and he has honest in his name. Check out the orange spotted goby. I posted a picture of my son’s a few hundred pages back a couple days ago. :winking-face:

I would be hesitant to add a free swimming fish to that size tank but this is what I found. It has to be true because it’s on the internet. Amanda,none of these fish should be in a 6 gallon except maybe the Yellow Watchman (with caution) and a Neon Goby.

I'd look at a Green Clown Goby and a Prawn/Shrimp Goby of some variety. Yasha Haza(Hasha) is my favorite paired with a Randalli's Pistol Shrimp.

I'm considering a Zoa garden for the whole tank with maybe an encruster or 2 and a Clown Goby, Neon Goby, and probably a Peppermint Shrimp or two. Maybe a Porcelain Crab and a Sexy Shrimp or 2 as well for my 8 gallon.

6 Gallon is still up in the air.

Mine climbed up my arm yesterday far enough his antenna were out of the water. I love my cleaner shrimp when I'm not feeding corals!

My favorite shrimp and are always out and about. Mine clean my hands whenever they are in the tank. I’m

I stated in the first sentence I don’t think it would work, sorry I know it would be great. I’m beginning to doubt if Honest Abes’s quote is really attributed to him.

I love the green clown goby and it's at the top of my very short list. So I think I will go with one of them and 5 sexy shrimp, 2 hermit crabs, 2 nassarius, 2 nerite, 3 or 4 Dwarf Ceriths, 2 Florida ceriths. Does that sound ok or too much or not enough? Lol

So sorry for the loss of your father, I experienced it a few years ago and it’s a really tough one.

I'd get a couple of blue leg hermits (5-10) and a Scarlet Reef Hermit (the bright red ones) and possibly a Halloween Hermit for the color.

Florida Ceriths are good, I usually do 5 or 6 in my smaller tanks.

5 Sexy Shrimps might be a lot for a 6 gallon but I have no clue. They stay small.
