Sad news, the smallest of my sand sifting star passed, I don't know why, I saw her a few days ago and she seemed fine. She was the first CUC I bought for the Biocube 32, I hate losing things in the tank

So sorry Luis , it sucks loosing one of our team members. I had one a couple of decades ago, consensus on the forum is they are difficult to keep in our tanks and tend to succumb to starvation, I think that is what happened to mine looking back.

Probably that is the reason Kev, but I don't know what else to do now. I'm giving frozen food 3 to 4 times a day and 2 or 3 times pellets so a lot falls into the sand for everything to be happy, but I can't give more than that amount because I could run the risk of contaminating the tank as well.

I have no answers for you, sorry. Maybe start a thread asking if anyone has successfully kept a sand sifting starfish long term and pick their brains.

That tends to be the problem with Sand Sifters - they require more food than we can provide. Most people that have a longer term success resort to direct feeding them several times daily.

From what I know, which isn't much about anything, direct feeding them meaty stuff couple times a day like big pieces of shrimp, cod,anchovies, etc, like just putting it under them is the key to their success.
You don't pollute the tank and they eat it all.

I have, they are about 30 miles away. I had to have shipped due to covid. Excellent packaging and healthy m, happy corals.

Ok, was cleaning the glass and knocked my gold hammer down. I had enough epoxy to remount it. Didn’t like how it was mounted applied a lot of glue and couldn’t get it remounted and knocked my torch down. Epoxy arrives Friday and I leave for Nashville early tomorrow and won’t be back until Sunday. Figures!
