I believe after some back tracking and talking to some people with Cynarina, that i may have injured mine during the relocation process. They slime like crazy. I kid you not Luis, everything in there was absolutely covered in it. And what else is crazy, is my sps and acans that I already had look fantastic. They never went down at all. And the plate that came in the coral order is absolutely fine. That's why I think it was the coral slime. Only the corals that were covered in it were affected

Make sense buddy, I hope that's the problem and everything goes back to being as beautiful as always

They're still in there Amanda. As long as I see healthy tissue,, I'm going to keep fighting for them

Good, the more you mess with them, the worse it gets. Corals don't like being moved around too much.

OK, so I deleted the link because this is a family friendly website. but there is a Seastar that has 5 legs that resemble something very specific. I can't imagine having that in my tank and what guests would say when they saw it. :face-with-tears-of-joy::grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

currently I only have one kid that eats seaweed sheets. this might hurt their teeth. as soon as I get a fish for this I'm 100% ordering it. But my tank needs another octopus first. then a GREAT light.

Good point. It may contain toxins and it irritated the other corals. Can you siphon the slime off the corals or blow it off and then siphon it out?

Yes, I blew a lot of it off. I could not believe how much was in the tank. It must've been everything, the Cynarina had in it! I've been rapidly changing floss and added a little more GAC. I've never seen anything like that.

Why do you say use a single strain? All I see for sale are multi strain bottles of phyto. I have no idea how to grow your own, I'm just asking out of curiosity. Also, where do you obtain your phyto to seed it with? If I have a bottle of mixed phyto, can I not just use a little of that to start a culture?

Reef Plantation and Mercer of Montana sell single strains. Some of the videos I've watched say you can put a multi-strain product in, but you will wind up with one culture winning out anyway. If the culture doesn't crash.

Reef Plantation and Mercer of Montana sell single strains. Some of the videos I've watched say you can put a multi-strain product in, but you will wind up with one culture winning out anyway. If the culture doesn't crash.

Thank you for the vendors. That makes sense that one will outcompete the others. I guess they grow different single strains and then combine them when they sell it.

Thanks Kevin. You've been so encouraging since the start of this. I'm going to fix what I can here and keep on moving. I spend a lot of time telling my boys they can't quit when something gets difficult. Gotta show em that I mean it.

Absolutely. I remember once my boys and I were playing Helldivers and we had nearly finished a pretty difficult mission when we were all wiped out and failed the mission. Some of them looked grumpy and said, "I don't want to play anymore." Normally I encourage them to curtail their video game time, but in this case I was like, "Nope, we are getting back on this horse!" Fortunately on the second try we succeeded. It was maybe the one time my wife agreed with extending a video game session.
