Not great news this morning. My birdsnest was declining all week so I thought I would remove the last healthy piece but it seemed to all be gone this morning. My yellow tail damsel was no where to be seen at feeding time which is very strange because he is a pig. I looked in the back chambers, I found a missing clown back there once, and no remains were found on the sand bed, but I have a very efficient cuc for situations like this. I’m debating getting another birdsnest, I’ve had one in my tank for 3 years or add another torch to kinda make the top rock a torch garden, what do you fine peeps think, inquiring minds want to know?

I'm so sorry Kevin, I think the birdsnest is part of you, of your essence but I really hate seeing you keep losing them for no reason and even more so after achieving incredible growth in the past few months.

Were there 13-14 empty bottles of Heinekens scattered on the floor next to the couch? Because that would be different from what I experienced, old man syndrome. I think what you experienced was young man drinking a lot of beer and passing out syndrome which is much more fun :winking-face:

Could I pull off the glue i put on the rock to kill the aptasia or does the glue need to stay in the rock?

Eventually, you could, but I'd wait longer because aiptasia is nearly indestructible, and who knows.

Well it seems that the consensus is another birdsnest, thanks for the suggestion Remi. I’m going to check with the owner of my lfs ( that’s local fish store for you older reefers) and see what they have or can get for me. I need another damsel as well but I’ll wait a day or two to see if it shows up, but I really doubt it.

So sorry Kev. I've read that birdnest grow super big, and then just die off and leave one piece left. I don't think any of these die offs have been your fault, I think its just the natural cycle of the birdnest. If you want to keep the birdsnest, I think that this will continue to happen.

Dang Kevin, a fish AND a coral? This is such a lame part of the hobby. Whichever coral you choose to add up there, it'll be awesome. If you're attached to the birdsnest, that makes complete sense, but your torch skills are off the charts. Either way, I'm hating this for you. You had my back when I had an incident like this. I'm going to keep checking on you too.
