Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Idk, if your in a remote area and someone can spend an hour or 2 comparing tree lines on Google maps to your picture I feel like they probably deserve it lol. I don't post fish pictures on Facebook either though.
If you do that down here expect company. And it's usually the folks that don't know their Bass from a hole in the ground. Lol

No lol, I'm not talking about sharing it with the whole world, but we were supposed to be in a chat to help each other and learn, believe me when I tell you that those chats were becoming increasingly toxic, to the point where you couldn't even share what kind of knots to use at certain fishing spots, crazy lol
Yea I'm in a few ice fishing pages and if someone posts "looking for ice in northern Maine, anyone know the conditions of xxxx before i drive 4hrs north with my 8 year old?" Then the negative "get off your *** and go check" comments come hot and heavy. It's awful.

good to know! im glad things turned around for you. id of been really bummed if you wouldve lost stuff!
Thanks Jill. Yeah it was very scary at the time. You get so attached to these critters!

We have a shortage of fisherman up here and actually have bag limits raising/being removed to manage the fisheries.

Believe it or not Luis, my family owned a Fishing outfitters/baitshop for over 50 years. You're absolutely right. I'd put most fishermen in with golfers (no offense I'm a fisherman myself). It's basically a "measuring" contest between old rich guys. Me personally, I'm just trying to get in the ocean and get something to fry lol

Regarding selling what you've won, I have mixed opinions. If I paid a ticket for a spot in a raffle, I would consider doing whatever I wanted with the winnings. But here, since everything is free and it's such a small hobby, I mean, compared to others, I'd give it away before selling it.

I think I should have explained my post better instead of just answering super quick while whistling to my boar to come back into his pen. If you paid for a raffle ticket or spent money on entering a contest and won the item, and you don't want it, then I don't see anything wrong with selling it. There's nothing wrong giving it away to a friend for free if you know they need it or it'll benefit them. Karma will come around full circle. :) Always try to do better than the day before.

It's yours do whatever you.... I'm sorry did you say you were whistling at a boar?

Suns shining and im outside in a t-shirt. Pretty darn well sir. Yourself?
I'm at work. But it looks kind of grey and overcast out so being inside isn't that bad. If it were sunny, I'd want to be outside!

So I'll say this for what it's worth. I had several of my oldest healthiest corals begin to decline. Two Cynarina, acans, two torches, two hammers, and a couple zoas, even my plate. Keith sent me some cipro to treat the euphyllia. I was beginning to get discouraged, thinking I was about to lose everything. I tried to put my finger on what it could be. Then I made the connection that all of this had begun AFTER I got a peppermint shrimp. I still may never know for sure what the cause was, but several days after the removal of the shrimp, EVERYTHING looks better. Even my big hammer, that I thought was completely gone, is inflating again. I may never know for sure who's fault it was. All I know for sure is the shrimp didn't eat aiptasia and my corals look happier with him gone.
They are known, on occasion, to nibble on corals.

Did someone say chili?

I know what's for dinner tonight! I do like their chili... have to get fries to go along with it of course. I add extra salt to the fries... because I can! LOL!

We don't judge lol, just random people sharing random opinions lol

But isn't organic matter converted into nitrates and phosphates by the same bacteria?
Just think about it this way - a normal tank has enough food to sustain a normal amount of bacteria, but when more food is added (fish food, decaying matter, etc) the bacteria grows to large populations (enough to see in the water column), and once that food source is gone, the bacteria dies off back to normal levels.
