So I picked up this random tank one day at a store in austin. It had been sitting outside for probably a month, they originally had it marked at 500$, it came with the tank, a stand, a eshopp sump, an older light that is similar to the viparspectra, 2 kessil light mounts. When I went to the store they had it marked down to 400$! So I tried my luck and offered them 350 for it. And they said yes! Woohoo! Until the owner came by and said I can havenit for 300$!! Sonmajor score! Since the tank is older, theres no bracing of any kind. And they are fairly known for leaking. I decided to rebuild the tank, so I stripped it all down, cleaned up the panes. Used ASI black silicone and sealed her up! Then decided to weld up an aluminium rim for it, just for added safety. And bam! It's now done and cured! Just need to get it out of the nursery room and outside for a leak test before I stick it in my bedroom! I'll update when I do all of that, but it's been a fun project so far and by far the biggest tank I've built!

Little update! Got the tank moved outside. Hooked up the return and drain pipes, filling her up with some water now! Fingers crossed it holds up! In all honesty though.. I'm more nervous about the cheap stand than the tank seams. I'll never understand why the cheap stands are made out of particle board.. plywood I can see, but really.. particle board! You just look at it wrong and it starts to deteriorate.

agreed. i never trust particle board stands. especially in a tank that you have any worry of leaks. might be a good idea to add some sort of reinforcement to the stand before you start cycling. the tank looks good though!!

I'm going to be building eitherba 3/4" plywood stand or a 2x4 stand for it.

First I want to say awesome workmanship on the tank. I got a 90 gallon cube for 75 bucks with no stand. Someone drilled the holes for the drain and return too close together so bulkheads wouldn’t fit. Instead they siliconed pvc fittings into the holes. Of course the silicone didn’t hold up. You could twist the return fittings and they would turn. Some j.b. waterweld fixed that problem. It’s reef safe and bonds to glass and pvc like nobody’s business.

I would do a 2x4 stand and skin it with a thin paneling or thin plywood. 100 gallons weighs about 1000 lbs when rock and sand enter the picture.

I can’t wait to see your tank aquascaped. It will be amazing.
