Is there anything I can do to the reef octopus 110ss, that will notify me or have it shut off if the collection cup becomes full?

I do have an Apex.

Thanks

Install a float switch in the cup, then wire it to the apex breakout box (ex. sw1).

then on skimmer outlet, "If SW1 closed then off"
and on alarm outlet "If SW1 closed then on"

:)

Would the skimmate bubbles, or froth created cause the Float switch to stick all the time?

Not in my experience, reef octopus Regal skimmers even come with that setup from the factory.

Do you think this would work? Or kind of hard since the cup is round?

Optical sensors will not work well, as they do not function once dirty. Float switches are better in this application.

If you want something pretty foolproof, tap the lid and install a rubber grommet or a probe holder so you can install an Avast marine pressure sensor. It can be wired for Apex BoB use. Pressure sensors don’ t foul and are perfect for this application.

There is also this nifty little sensor that magnetically couples to the skimmer cup for easy cleaning.
I saw these. But can they plug in to the apex and still function? I need to control my skimmer for other things as well.
