@randyBRS it's actually not a big deal. As you're probably familiar there are kind of 2 ways to "subscribe" to a youtube channel. You have the normal "subscribe" button, which just sticks the channel into your list and anytime a new video is posted a little number with the number of videos pops up next to it when you go to youtube.

If you hit the little "bell" icon, this is what I consider the second level of "subscribing". You automatically get an alert in the top right hand corner of your screen the minute you go to youtube. Your email will get peppered...etc.

Essentially, since I don't bother to "bell" the channels I sub to, when I log into youtube everyday I just see the number and don't get bombarded. As far as I'm aware, youtube doesn't have a way of separating out alerts beyond this, so regardless of how you release them the same things will happen on the user side no matter what.
