Ah I gotcha, wow that must be a monster pump to put out that kind of heat on a tank that big! Maybe blow a fan across the surface to help lower the tank Temps, but I guess that only is a band-aid until you figure out why the pump is overheating. I have 3 heaters in my waterchange can because I am impatient lol.

K, I've checked it with three different thermometers. It's for realz. LOL! It shouldn't surprise me though, as I noticed a change in the pitch of the pump awhile back. It probably needs to be cleaned, but that's a HUGE pain in the boo-tee.

I'll take the lid off for the day as the tank is 100% covered by glass plates. Not that it's a big deal at 82, but it's not the usual hang. I guess I better feed the fish a little more until I fix it. No wonder they've been staring at me more than usual. I so don't want to crawl under there. It was easy before my back surgeries, but now I can't really get to it. It's a huge pump.

These are the lids that cover the top.

Time to bust out the vinegar! Cleaning pumps is my least favorite chore, and everything has a dang pump lol.

My bulkheads are on the bottom of the tank and the valves leak. There's only time for a quick cleaning before I have to reconnect it. The fittings on the pump are 2"!

There could be a snail. I'm missing one. Mind you, the outlet is 2" and the inlet is 1-1/2, so it's not like the snail could block it.

Sure can! I'll take some shots tonight. His new little spine is so cute. I have to go digging around in his QT because he needs a heater. His tank is 76 and the display is currently 82.... that's a bit of a gap to close. Also his salinity is 1.020 and the display is 1.026. o_O This is going to be a long process...

Beautiful job, Renee! (hope you don't mind my first-naming you, you've helped me (and others) so much, I feel like your a houseguest).

I just read the whole thread, and even had to go back and find this post, because that little sand-corner thing is probably the easiest, yet most ingenious thing I've ever seen!
There was an area in the corner, where the flow kept pushing the sand. No matter what we did with the flow, it didn't make a difference.

So, I had to get creative..... a little acrylic, silicone and sand.........

I've been feeding him a lot, prepping him for the move. I look a video of the sphex and I'm actually going to play it for the radiata and see if he reacts at all. Oh PLEASE don't them both be males. Look at his little spine growing in. Awwww.

I hope the transition from the qt to the big tank goes smoothly. How is the pump? Still running hot? Just read through and had a little giggle at a few things!

It's actually down to 77, but I have to admit it's a little chilly in the house. The thermostat says 71 and my bones are aching, but heh, the tank is cooler! That's what really matters! Where's my Ben Gay?

Got another guy coming next Tuesday. Now I really have to get the radiata out of the training tank. I actually decided to wait until I got back from my month long vacation. I didn't want my tank sitter (husband) to have to deal with a new situation while I was gone.
