220 Gallon SPS Reef Build

Gorgeous fish.
I've somehow not been getting your updates! Hopefully notifications work again.

Definitely a shame to have to pull fish because they become coral munchers.
I've briefly been considering the same.
I'm quite sure my foxface and purple tang are doing the same. Haven't seen the other tangs do it yet though so there may be more culprits but I would feel bad doing it since we literally upgraded the tank so I could keep them (by them I namely mean the foxface and my blue tang as I had those before the upgrade). Would be a shame to let them go now after all this time. Coming upto 4 years that I've had them in a few months!
Really hate that the foxface and purple eat my corals though. (I've stopped buying them as a result).
Hmmm I have a Purple Tang coming this weekend...
It better not munch on coral 🤪

Well this was unexpected!

Updated full tank shot from the weekend just as the lights were winding down.

Also took updated shots of all my frags for my growth record - these are my fav's at the moment. (although its hard to pick just a few!)

Frankie's Kryptonite - this was bought as a small nub under a year ago, has been growing insanely fast!
2025-08-16 20.18.01.jpg

Maleficent Acro - starting to base out
2025-08-16 20.19.39.jpg

PC Rainbow - always a Stunning Acro
2025-08-16 20.23.30.jpg

Walt Disney - only a small frag, starting to base and grow out new branches from its base
2025-08-16 20.23.42.jpg

Fireworks - this was a bargain bin rescue frag from a LFS (paid like $5 for it) - managed to recover and its growing like mad now!
2025-08-16 20.23.53.jpg

Vivid Confetti - This is very similar to Maleficent, but different! Both will look amazing if i can get them to colony size!

Said it before and I'll say it again--your tank with its collection of coral is a-ma-zing! View it for inspiration!

Thank you!

I just wish i could fast forward another year just to see how it all grows out!
Planning an upgrade to my frag tank already so i can have more room for growing out new one's!

So had a chance to get a few more coral over the last week, and jumped at it - currently have them sitting in my frag tank to acclimate a little.

Blue Tenius - (Not the best pic, but its a really nice blue colour)

Echinata (this is what some call the fire/ice Echinata) - meant to be a hard to keep coral, so keen to see how this goes.

Blue Echinata

And just a random Red Table - looked cool off the website!

Corals look good mate! I'm sure you'll find plenty of success with them.
I don't even know what my sps colony is called haha, would be good to know though. Maybe one day I'll put up an ID post :P
You're gonna run out of space with all the corals you have filling out that tank! looks awesome.

Def going to have issues with corals growing into each other!
But hard to know at this stage, I am running out of places on the rock to glue them on.

Awww lookit the lil guy... he's just a lil guy :P

Are they good or pests?
Acro crabs are generally considered good guys, i have a few in my tank.
They clean out any detritus that might settle in a colony etc.
This one is actually about an inch across now, so not so little (but fully grown).
One of my other Tabling acro's has a smaller one living in it, will have to try and get a shot of him also. They tend to hitchike in on wild coral, so you never know - your new one might end up with one!

I did a dip, but yeah, never know it might've survived it.
I saw a brittle starfish come off one of my montipora, it'd didn't seem too active but threw it in the sump anyway just in case.

Well...looks like its time for the fish trap to come out again.
My poor Trachy has been living in the frag tank for 6 months after being eaten by my bigger Blue Tang (who is not on a permanent holiday).

My Son sent me this video this morning...

Why....
