220 Gallon SPS Reef Build

Dude, that would be craaazy.
Given how much your current tank is thriving I think you could definitely pull this off and have such an amazing centerpiece going. Make sure if you do start a new thread if this happens in future you give us a heads up here so I can be sure to follow that one too!

Thats the plan!
I've started getting gear ready for this, and had the aquarium quoted.
Its just all about timing now. Thankfully with this design i can keep both going while the new one cycles etc. Then transfer across.

Haha you're a wizard mate.. all over it! that's awesome and I can't wait to see how you get on with the new one too.
Unless I found myself with expendable money (unlikely, too many hobbies and Sydney things lol) I think I'll stick to my 6ft'er haha. It's been a bit of a learning curve, and I've still got more work to do on it to get it to where I want it.

You'll do an amazing job with your new one though for sure.

There is another Aussie reefer on here, @PrattysReef , that had been looking for other Aussie reefers. Maybe you guys already know each other but, in any case, I didn't see a connection on R2R.

I love automation. I still spend as much time on the tank as I did before, but the time is more about wanting to do stuff than having to.

Good luck!

I think for me it will just give some peace of mind when i do travel - if the house sitter says theres a weird noise coming from the tank, i can switch pumps off etc remotely rather than trying to trouble shoot over the phone (thankfully never happened).

Very nice of someone to give you the equipment.

I had some fun this morning getting AI to render the new aquarium properly so i can get a sense of what it will look like better.... lets just say i'm a fan...

That looks very sweet! I’m assuming you’ve mapped out how you’re going to access for maintenance. Fish room behind there perhaps?

End backs into my garage, so all the pipework and sump plus frag tank will be located there! Nothing under the tank at all apart from extra storage for the house.

Top canopy is all lift up doors, and planning on the lighting being on a lifter also to get it out of the way.

So many questions but who plays the piano?

I used to when i was younger, can still play a little but dont tend to have much time for it these days (also trying to teach myself guitar)...but my Wife does really well, and one of my Son's can play really well also.

Quick update - some top downs I took the other week.

Tank is still cranking along, going to need to desperately do a big trim on some of my larger colonies soon, on the right end of my tank they are hitting the glass...

I started a second culture of phyto, wanted to grow 2 strains for dosing, so now i'm growing Nanno and T-Iso, dosing regularly certainly makes the snails spawn like crazy!

Since having the Apex attached, I now have some of my PH data, my low is during the night, when it falls to around 8.15, the high is in the afternoon when the Alk dosing starts to kick in, it climbs to almost 8.5!

This is the Scoly i grow babies from regularly! Its colours have gone nuts since i chopped it a few years back!
