Been working on this build on and off pretty much since I moved into my new house almost 4 years ago. I had a 180 set up when I was living with my dad and the plan was to always bring that tank over here and set it up. I ended up selling that tank and going with a 240 back in October and started getting more serious with the build. Today I am working on the aquascape and figured it is the perfect time to start a thread. The tank is 96"x24"x24" from advanced acrylics. The sump is the CL60 from synergy reef. The stand is 2x4s painted black.

Equipment that is going on will be:
4x g6 XR30 Pros (might supplement with an LED light bar)
Jebao MDP 13000 return pump
2x MP40
1x Jecod DMP 40 (was curious to try it)
1x Maxspect Gyre XF350 (maybe 2)
Apex controller with Dos and Trident (already have on 55)
Hydros x4 with xp8
XPAqua Duetto ATO
BRS heaters
Icecap algae scrubber
55 Watt Lifegard Aquatics UV
Bubble Magus curve 9 plus Skimmer (if I can get it working again)

Here's a pic of my dog checking out the new tank when I got it in the house.

the three 2x4s underneath will go on the front after I do the plumbing

got this used with my mixing station off marketplace. I have replaced all filters

I will have a controller board next to the sump, this outlet be protected from water. Same goes for the one on the right.

If I didn't already buy the jebao mdp 13000 I would have got another Current USA. The one on this mixing station runs dead silent at 100%

... just out of curiosity, how difficult was it to have a 96" tank delivered? It's my understanding that most trucks with a liftgate can't accommodate that length, for those seeking to have it delivered to their home and unloaded at their driveway. That's why I ended up ordering two (2) matching 60" tanks...

They delivered it no questions asked. The price was incredibly reasonable too. It was extremely nerve racking watching him take it off the truck though.

Darn. My dream was actually a 9- or 10-foot tank, VERY shallow-- probably 16 to 18 inches, max. But I was worried about the delivery.

Following your journey! ;)

man that is a nice tank!
I have been thinking about ( if I dont finish out my basement) a huge acrylic tank to replace my 200 gal. peninsula

did you go Acrylic due to the weight and getting down to the basement or did you always like them?
I had a glass cages 240 years ago. l9ve that 2 dude could move it in.

do let us know how the scratching goes. I think it over states in the hobby but I know they do as well.

This is my first acrylic tank. Weight was a big factor. If I didn't have to go down stairs and make a few turns 2 of us could have moved it relatively easy. Also the fact that I should never have to worry about the seams failing. I did a decent amount of research on the scratching and from what I could tell, it seems as if most of the people that talk about how easy it scratches, never owned an acrylic tank. Not saying that they don't scratch easier than glass but as long as you are careful it isn't as big of an issue as people make it out to be (I hope).

Is the acrylic only 3/4 thick? If so. I think you will like the dmp. For that length though, I would recommend the new dmp-60.

Maybe I missed it, but are those rocks glued down (etc.)? Will this be fish only, or will you have corals?

Yes 3/4. For flow I plan on a gyre on the right, two MP40s on the back and the dmp on the left. It's an internal overflow that will have two returns shooting across the back of the tank as well. I am considering another gyre and have one on each side.

Glue and epoxy on 80% of the joints. I bought mortar too but didn't use it because I felt confident in this. A few of the rocks on top that aren't structural only have glue. If you look closely you can see the epoxy. Gonna go with a mixed reef.

I'm going to learn real quick about how easily acrylic scratches. I noticed when I was gluing the final joints on my aquascape in the tank that I got some superglue on the front panel. Anybody have tips on getting this off? lol

Been thinking more and more on my stocking list and this is what I came up with that I likely need to dwindle down. Especially the Wrasse section lol.

These are what I already have in my tanks that will be moving over to the 240
2x Ocellaris Clowns
5x Zebra Bar Gobies
Foxface Lo
Purple Tang

This is what I'm considering adding
Whitetail Bristletooth tang
1X of Convict, white cheek or powder blue tang
Copperband Butterfly
two barred rabbitfish
5+ Sunset Anthias
WRASSES
Exquisite
Orange back
Naoko's
Scott's
Lubbocks
Dusky

What do we think of this selection? What should I get rid of? Anything that should be replaced? Leave as is?
