Look for your local Facebook reef page, people will post frags there (you may need a Facebook account if the page is private, you’ll have to request to join, but you can just make a burner account).
Parents won’t let me have Facebook, but that’s ok.

My dad might let me use his account, which would be awesome!

Changed my lighting to an AI Prime 16HD today, got a great deal on one from a fellow reefer here on R2R. He also hooked me up with some corals, an encrusting montipora, a birds nest, and two different Zoanthids (bambams and fire and ice (or something like that)). Haven’t quite figured out what settings I want the new light at, I’ve just have it pretty blue at a fairly low intensity for the time being. I’m using a piece of glass as a lid until I decide what I want to do for a lid. But here’s the Monti and the birds nest (zoas aren’t quite open all the way):

Got a shipment of corals in today from AquaSD, everything looked great upon arrival. I got a little rainbow trachyphyllia, a micromussa/Acan lord, a sweet favia, an Alveopora, and a black light torch. Super happy with everything, the torch was supposed to be two heads, but it’s three and one of them is splitting (so almost four). They also threw in a free little goniopora. The picks are after the corals had been in the tank for just a couple minutes. On a side note, I’ve been dosing fluconazole for almost twenty days, and it hasn’t helped as much as I’d hoped. I think I’m dealing with cladophora and not bryopsis/Derbesia, it has killed some of the algae and made it easier to pull out, but it hasn’t killed it the way fluc will kill bryopsis. The algae that it did kill has raised nutrient levels quite a bit, so that sucks. Also, the new light is awesome, coral colors are so, so much better even just a couple weeks in, wish I wouldn’t have waited so switch out the stock lighting (which isn’t bad, it’ll grow a lot of stuff, it just doesn’t have UV and the color is kinda washed out). Anyway, here’s some pics:

Finally cleaned my glass and took a couple pics from the side, also a video of the new torch in slow motion (just thought it looked cool). I am in the process of rethinking some coral placements, a few corals are starting to get a little too close to each other, but for now everyone is okay.

Corals just looking really good today, so thought I’d post a couple pics (really need to get a filter/lens for better pics). Really loving this new Alveopora and torch (also starting to see some growth on the bubble coral).

Added a Tailspot Blenny and a chunky Frogspawn frag (thinking it might actually be a frogspawn/hammer hybrid, but don’t know for sure) that a local reefer gave me. I didn’t quarantine the Tailspot because I didn’t feel like setting it up the QT and because I know I already have ich in my tank. If he gets ich, I’ll set up a hospital tank, but it’s been 5-6 days and he’s active and eating and grazing on the rocks, so I think I’m past the initial stress window. I don’t have any pics of him yet, but here’s the frogspawn (also mounted the torch on the rockwork).

Few new additions yesterday, a couple new alveoporas, blastomussas, and a new Duncan. The blastos were a little disappointing, but they haven’t settled in completely yet, so we’ll see (couple extra freebies too, so that was cool, also the big pink one isn’t new). The Duncan is also not quite settled in yet, but the alveoporas are living! Really like the green alveopora. Anyway:

Quick update. I changed my lighting from the AI Prime to the Noopsyche K7 V3 140watt. So far I’m liking the actual lighting, but the controller is definitely lacking. But I actually really like the spectrum, coverage, and intensity of the light, and my corals have all responded positively.

I got a really great deal on a few new corals. I got a big ORA green Sinularia, ORA green birdsnest, some green Palys, and around 20 WWC Pandora zoas from a local reefer for $50. The the Sinularia was recently fragged and not quite attached to the frag plug yet, so it’s not looking too happy, but the rest have opened up and look great.

Hard to get a good pic of the Pandoras (they’re the ones behind the cloves).

And the green Sinularia, still looking a little sad

Welp, it finally happened, and I can’t say I’m too pleased about it, my bubble-tip split. It was finally staying put and was looking so happy (maybe too happy?) and wasn’t wandering the tank letting everyone have it, and now it split and one of the halves immediately wandered into my hammer (that was already recovering from a previous run-in with the BTA) and I think killed one of the heads. We’ll see tomorrow (I moved the hammer so it won’t get any more damaged). Lights are off now, will post pics tomorrow.

So you aren't happy about it?
